-Last Monday morning, a man, narned Patrick Dunn, was shot near his dweiling in this village by Charles Chorr. They were both Irishmen, and near neighbors. - Dunn died the next day. On a post-mortem examination it appeared that the ball entered at the side, and passed through the lower part of the stomach. A quarrel had existed for eome time bctween Duim, ond Caorr, and Dunn had been indicled for an assault upon Cliorr. Dunn has left a family of five children. Chorr is now lodged in the jail of this county. The coroner'a jury held an inquest upon the body, and returned a verdict declaring that Pntrick Dunn was wilfully and maliciouèly killed by Charles Chorr. We beiieve tliis is the first rnurder Ihat has been perpetrated in this County siico its settlement, a period of about twenty years. We have heard of a robber who deüberately shot a gentleman on the highway, took the dead man's moncy and his horse, and fled.- When arraigned before his country 's tribunal and called uponto answer the solen! interrog'atory, guilty? or not guilly? Ile replied- -I shot the man but I have taken g-ood care of the horse. He ia a noble aniivl, ver y service oble to me, and I have kept him "fat and slcelc." IIow miich botter, or rather how much worse! is that "kind hcarled southem PATiiiARcn;" who under the infernal grasp of hopeless servitud, keeps hia "serviceable onimal," fat and sleek. Ile may possibly tnke care of the animal, but he murders THE MAN.
