The State election hasgone lor the Whigs, by a strong majority. Whig mniarity, 1,840. The Wliigs have also 24 of the 31 Senators, and 50 of the lepresentatives. The wholc nuipber of votes cast, was 16,0G6, which shows that the new Constitution hos nearly doubled the suffrage. The whole vote at the great Presidentinl Btruggle in 1840, being 5,621.
