Natural foods should be judged on more than taste, price & nutrition. People's Food Co-op offers a tasty, nutritious selection of natural foods at reasonable prices. Our definition of quality, however, does not stop here. We have other selection criteria to consider as well. Important among them are a concern for the environmental impact of food production and distribution methods and a desire to support progressive social values. These standards strengthen our commitment to:

Increase the availability of foods grown without the use of hazardous chemicals

Support local farmers and suppliers

Promote minimally processed, whole foods

Give priority to goods produced with the least environmental, human and animal exploitation

Support cooperatives and worker-owned businesses

Meet special dietary needs

Limit the use of non-degradable packaging
