- A letter from aGovernor of Pennsylvania ro the Indians, is Iikely to be an intereresting document to many readers, and we therefore subjoin from the Doylestown Democrat, an authentic letter from William Penn to certain aborigines residing within the bounds of the province. It is an nteresting docment. William Pcnn's Letter to the Indians of Pennsyleama. E.vGr.Ajm. 2Ist 2d mo. 1682. The Great God. who ís the power and wisdom that mide you and me, incline your hearts to righieonsness, love and peace. This I send you toassure yott of my love, and to desire your love to my friends; and when ïhe Great God brings me nmong you, I intend to order a'l things in such manner. that wc may all live in love and peace one xviih nnother, which I hope the Great God will incline both me and you to do. I seek nothing but the honor of his name, and that we rho are hia worksmnnship, may do that which is well pleasing to him. The man which delivers this into you, is my special friend. sober, wise and loving, and you may beilieve him. I hnve already taken care that none of my penpie wrong you; by good Inws I have provided for that purpose; nor will I ever al'.ow any of my people to sell eümme to make y.tur people driink. If anything skould be ut of order, expect when I come ii shall be mended, and I will bring you some' tbtnga of our country that are useful and pleasant to you. So I rest in the lovs of God that made ub. I am your loved friend, WM. PENN. I read this letter to the Indians by an interpreter, the 6th mo. 1682. THO. HOLM.Dr. Bkrksian stated in his address before the State Agricultura] Fair in Rochester that 10,000,000 of cattle and 44,000,000 ofsheep are kept in England advantgeously on a terrítory little larger than the State of New York. Thi8 is not far frora twice the nnmber of sheep now in the whole Unitcti States. The English cultivators of the boü, harvest annually according to Dr. Beekman, 502,000,000 bushels of grain.
