Elections for the next Congress havO been held in twenly-one States. Should there be no choice of president by tho electors, the choice will devolve on thO House of Representati ves. In proceeding to election, each State will have one vote, thus placing the political power of the greatest and smallest States on a level. - Rhode Island will have as much influence as New York. The viajority of members from each State will determine for whom the vote shall be cast. Should tho election come into the House, the twentyone States will vote as follows for President. DEMOCRATIC. WHIG. New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Ohio, Rhode Island, Indiana, doubbtful. Illinois, Kentucky, (atio.) Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolinu, South Carolina, New Jersey, Virginia, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, We cut the preceeding list from th Free Press. We presume it is correct Elections for Congress are yet to take place in Michigan. Maryland, Arkinsas, Mississippi andDelaware.CCWe cut the following from ono of our excbanges we know not which. It is quite significant. Gov. Seward haa repeatedly declined being harnessed into the Clay team. ;The N. Y. Courier and Enquirer publishes a letter from Ex-Governor Seward, who declines being the Whig candidate for the Vice Presidency of the United States, or for any other office "State or National, in the election of 1844, or dependent upon the triumph of the Whig party in that election."
