Written,composed and directed by MacArthur Genius Grant recipient Meredith Monk, The Politics of Quiet is a new multi-cultural opera linking music, images and movement to form a work exploring "community" honoring  ancestral roots, and anticipating the next century.  Monk communicates the struggle to find and build a sense of community and the importance of time for contemplation and true communication.
