Common Language Bookstore presents Nora Salas, publicist for the United Farmworkers Union, who will speak about the current nationwide United Farmworkers Union strawberry campaign. The UFW strawberry campaign is an effort to improve the living and working conditions of strawberry pickers and it emphasizes that buying and eating food are not politically neutral acts. Salas, a U-M graduate, was interviewed for the 1997-98 issue of "Michigan Feminist Studies," which will be available at the store. Sat., May 23, 4 pm, Common Language Bookstore, 215 S. Gray Panthers of Huron Valley holds their regular membership meeting on Saturday, May 2. Representatives of local organizations most atfected by efforts to "privatize" areas of our economy - such as education, health care, welfare and protection of the environment - will present information of concern to voters.
