Mrs. Miriam Hale
CHELSEA - Mrs. Miriam B. Hale, 66, of 1100 W. Stadium in Ann Arbor, died suddenly early today at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
Mrs. Hale was a resident of Chelsea for many years prior to moving to Ann Arbor in 1962.
She was born Sept. 29, 1897, in Troy, Ohio, the daughter of George and Sophia Braunschweiger. After graduating from Troy High School, she was graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, in 1916.
Mrs. Hale then taught school in Troy until she was married to John W. Hale in 1921. He survives.
The couple lived in Cleveland, Ohio, and Lebanon, Ohio, before coming to Chelsea in 1938. Mrs. Hale was a member of the Chelsea Women's Club, served on the library board and was active in the Congregational Church. She also acted as a substitute teacher.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, John L. Hale of Ann Arbor; two grandchildren; a brother, Paul of Troy, Ohio; and a sister, Mrs. Clarence Veit of Wapakmeta, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Staffen Funeral Home in Chelsea. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
