Messrs. EütTORs: - You will be gtatified as well as other true friends of the Liberty cause, to knovv, that the abolitionista of this place, are onward in this canse. We have made our nomination for Townshlp officers to be supported at the ei)6iiing spring election. and ave happy to state, that we have already in our ranks, sufficient numbers for official purposes, good men and trne, of sound principies, who are strengthened by every move thcy make in the glorious cause of freedom. Men too who are capable of filling the offices vvith respect, tbr which they are nominated. The Whigs here are evidently becoming much alarmed,n view of our onward movemcntF. They regard them with much attention. Saitl a prominent Whig gentleman to us the other day, "If you will take the right course, we will go with you. - "ï wijl admit that slavery 13 a curse to the country, and ought to be done away; but you abolitionists are not pursuing the right way. I do not under-itand your plan of opera tion which is calculated to bring about the desired object." We told him our object was fo give all men their just and equal ïighfs. "But no, (snys he) that will not do. The Almigbty has put bis mnrk upon the negro iace, thal they should be 6laves forever! And I will meet the best of you at two days notice in a public discussion and prove that slavery is a Bible institution, uphcld by the word of God, from the Old Testament to the end of the New." We think the public enüghtened on this point and that thereare not many even amongthe whigs, who believe slavery a Bible institution. However, if this should not be the case, we will have patience to epend a few moments, to convincethem that the principies of slave ry are as different from the principies of the Bible, as Heaven is from Heil! The abolitionists of this place stand ready to defend their principies in public or private debate, against all the combined forces of the whigs in this land or the world ! We invite them to meet us on an question of their own selection, touching the correctness of our principies, or measures, which we think ure calculated to deslroy the great monster! Furthermore we are under solemn obligation, to bevery active in convincing our brethren of the great wickedness, of eelecting and supporting men to PilO over this nation whoin any way'sanction the great aboraination! Yours fr libcrty ordeath,
