Former University Employe Dies At 82
John P. Kraft, 82, a former University employe, died Saturday night at his home after a brief illness. He had been living with his niece, Mrs. Robert Jones, at 1541 Broadway.
He had lived in Ann Arbor for the past 50 years, and had been a fireman at the University power plant for 30 years until his retirement in 1939.
Born Nov. 9, 1874, in Baltimore, Md., he was a son of Francis and Josephine Kraft. He came to Freedom township as a child with his parents, later moving to Ann Arbor.
He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and of the church's Holy Name Society. He also had been a member of the Arbiterverein for the past 50 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Aaron Wirth of Ann Arbor, a nephew and three nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel, where Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
