At a regular meeting1 of the Mechanics Temperance Association of Ann Arbor, on Toesday evemngr, April 80, 1844, it wns ascertained, by referring to the Journal of the Society, that the unprecedented zeal of the various comtnittees had attained about five hündred membera to said associntion. It was therefore thought proper, after nppropriate remarte from different memberson the subject, to hoJd a M ss Meeting in the grove, where the friends of Temperance, as weil as members of the various Temperance societies of this place would have an opportnnity to assemble toe: ether, and show to the confirmed inebríate, if there were any lefl in the place, the advantnges of Total Abstinenee. On motion of P. Bensimer, a coramittee was appoinled to prepare the grove for the above pnrpose, and consisted of the following members: A bsalom Tra ver, C. N. Orm-by, D. T. McCollum, M. H. Co vies, G. Beckley, Jas. B. Manchester, Daniel B. Brown, James Daley, Samuel B. Sutherland and E. B. Spal - ding. AAer the appointment of the committee, on motion of Prancis E. Jones, the Secretary was required to have the proceedings of the meeting published ín the Signal of Liberty, and a copy of it sent to ench of the committee. After the appointment of com trüttee to obtain signers to the Pledge, provide ror sucIj members, Sic, in cornpliance with rule 1 1 of the Conslitutior:, the So-iety adoumed to Tuesday evening, May I4th, 1844, :o meet ogain at the same place, and hear the report of their conuuUtees and transact all Dusiness necessary preparatory to a Mass Meeting.
