Postscript: The Tariff Bill Defeated

In the House, on the 16! h, the previous que8tion was callee! on a motion to lay on the table the b.ill to modify the Tariffactof 1842. Th is was voted on os a test, and it was laid on the table by a vote of 105 to 99. A reconsideraron was moved and lost by a vote of 108 to 99. So the Tariff bill wül doubtless remain tül the next session of Congress without altention.
