The Leglslature of this State have done two good deeds: they have abolished all militia traiuings, and have passed the following act for the benefit of the Women of the State. lts influence willbe highly advaratageous to táaem and to their posterity: AN ACTto -secure to married women their rights n property. Be itenaeted, &c. Section I. Any married wocnan may become seized or possessed of any properíy, real or personal, by direct bequest, dernise. gift, pu reliase ordistirtbution, in her own name, and as ot her owa property; provided, it shalJ be made to appear by such married woman, in any esye touching the validity of her titJe, that th same does nol in any vy come troca the iiusband after coverture. Sec. i. Hereafter, when atiy woman possessed of property, real or personal, sha!l marry, euch properly ehall continue to her notwithstanding her coverture, aod 6hO shall have, hoW and possess the same, as her separate pwperty, éieöipt from any Jiability for tlje debts, or oantracts of the fiusbnnd.
