Age 60, passed away Wednesday evening, June 6, 1979, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a brief illness. He was born November 6, 1918 in Madalia, Minnesota, the son of Otis and Clara B. Ridgle DeVoll. He had been a resident of this area the past 21 years. He married Diane Brownlee in Cantonsville, Maryland, November 16, 1946. Mr. DeVoll was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Air Corp as a First Lieutenant and also with the British Royal Air Force. He earned his wings both with the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Air Force. Mr. DeVoll was a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Survivors include: one son, William B. DeVoll with the U.S. Army; two sisters, Mrs. Russell (Margaret) Brown of Delavan, Wisconsin and Mrs. Donald (Clara) Gregerson of Sanborn, Iowa; his mother, Mrs. C. Bernice DeVoll of Sanborn, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Charles DeVoll of Richardson, Texas; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, June 9, at 2 p.m. at the Fontana Funeral Chapel, 2400 Carpenter Rd.
