Architect Honored

At commencement exercises of Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., this week Ralph Hammet, professor emeritus of the U-M School of Architecture, received an honorary doctor of fine arts degree.
Professor Hammet is a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor.
The architect has designed many churches in Michigan, including Trinity Lutheran, the education wing of St. Andrew’s Episcopal, the Douglas Memorial Chapel of the First Congregational Church, and the Lutheran Student Chapel and Center here in Ann Arbor. He also designed the People’s Presbyterian Church in Milan.
The Rev. Richard I. Preis, pastor of Trinity, gave the invocation at the commencement. Mr. Preis was recently re-elected to a four-year term on the board of directors at Carthage. Carthage College is a liberal arts college of the Lutheran Church of America.
