Ross S. Stofflet, 68, partner in the Stofflet News Co., died of a heart attack last night at his home.
Mr. Stofflet, who lived at 1201 Van Dusen, was born in Ann Arbor on Dec. 25, 1897.
He served with the 32nd Red Arrow Division of the Army in Germany during World War I.
After the war, he went into the Stofflet News Co. with his father, Harvey Stofflet. He purchased the business from his father in 1922 and formed a partnership with his present partner, Harvey Rettick.
He married the former Rose McCormick of St. Louis, Mo., on April 22, 1919. He was a member of the American Legion and the Ann Arbor Elks Lodge. He also was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Stofflet is survived by his wife; two sons, Edward M. and Ross Jr.; two granddaughters and two grandsons; two sisters, Mrs. Harvey L. Rettick and Mrs. Byron J. Hildinger, and two nieces and five nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday from the Staffan Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitors may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday.
