Man Killed In Car Crash At Brighton Formerly Lived Here

Karl G. Schairer, 56 years old, of Ferndale, who was fatally injured in an automobile accident yesterday in Brighton, was a son of the late D. Frederick Schairer, prominent Ann Arbor merchant, and Martha Good Schairer.
Mr. Schairer was service representative of the Acme Strip Steel and Empire Sheet and Tinplate Co. He was fatally injured when his car skidded and struck a tree on US-16 at Brighton.
His father, D. Frederick Schairer, who died in May, 1931, was one of the original members of the board of directors of the former Farmers & Mechanics bank and was a partner in the firm of Schairer & Millen, drygoods merchants. His wife died in May, 1926.
Karl G. Schairer was graduated from Ann Arbor High school and attended the University from 1901 to 1903, and in 1904-1905. He was married to a Michigan graduate, Persis Martin, who received her degree in 1906.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Karl G., jr., and Frederick M.; and two brothers, Waldo of Coloma and Fred G. of Coleman.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 tomorrow morning in the Albert Steinbaugh funeral home, 23257 Woodward Ave., Ferndale. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery here.
