Civic Theater Seeks To Buy Acre Of Land

The Ann Arbor Civic Theater has contracted to buy slightly more than an acre of land in Pittsfield township on which a studio for rehearsing plays and building scenery will be constructed.

The property, located on S. Main Rd. near Waters Rd., is involved in probate court proceedings at the moment.  Civic Theater officials except no final action on the purchase before the end of January at the earliest.

There is an old, unused building on the land now that will be replaced by the new studio.  Plans for financing the new structure have not been worked out.

The Civic Theater now rehearses its productions in the Ann Arbor High School and builds its scenery in the Dold School at Wagner and Ellsworth Rds. in Lodi township.
