Patricia Throop, Richard Archer Exchange Vows

PATRICIA THROOP, RICHARD ARCHER EXCHANGE VOWS

Patricia Dearing Throop, daughter of Prof. and Mrs. Palmer Allan Throop of E. University Eve., became the bride of Richard Joseph Archer, son of Judge and Mrs. William J. Archer of Duluth, Minn., in a ceremony held at 4:30 Saturday afternoon in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

Dr. Henry Lewis read the marriage service, which was followed by a small garden reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Hall in Barton Hills.

Antique ivory satin fashioned the bride’s classic-style gown, which featured a draped bertha of heirloom rose point and duchess lace which had belonged to her paternal grandmother. Accenting the neckline was a pearl and diamond pin from a necklace willed to the bride by her grandmother for her wedding.

Her Juliet cap of rose point lace, also a family piece, was trimmed with pearl flower clusters and held in place her veil of imported illusion. She carried a shower bouquet of cream colored roses.

Wear Marquisette

Miss Joyce Hall of Barton Shore Dr. was maid of honor and Mrs. William R. Kopcke, the former Jane Archer, of North East, Pa., was honor matron. They wore lilac colored gowns of marquisette over taffeta.

Miss Patricia Hume of S. Forest Ave., wearing azure blue marquisette over taffeta, and Miss Alice Huntington of Oswego St., gowned in pastel yellow marquisette over taffeta, were the bridesmaids.

Mary Ann McClure of Bryan, Texas, cousin of the bride, serving as junior bridesmaid, wore azure blue marquisette over taffeta.

All the attendants carried fan-shaped bouquets of white-gold gladiolus and had bands of ivy with clusters of the white-gold gladiolus in their hair.

William J. Archer, jr., of Chicago assisted his brother as best man. Ushers were George Cheffy of Barnesville, O., William R. Kopcke of North East, Pa., and David Buck of Duluth.

Assist at Reception

Assisting at the reception were Mrs. Robert B. Hall, Mrs. John S. Worley of Oakland Ave., Mrs. Henry A. Sanders of Geddes Ave., Mrs. Arthur S. Aiton of Seneca Ave., Mrs. Charles F. Meyer of Fair Oaks Pkwy., Mrs. Charles Stevenson of Olivia Ave., Mrs. Raymond Kilgour of Oswego St., Mrs. H. A. McClure of Bryan, Texas, Mrs. John R. Stiles of Grand Rapids, and Miss Deborah Lincoln of Berkshire Rd.

The couple left for a week in a cottage at Lake Erie. Following Joyce Hall’s wedding, which will take place Saturday, and in which Mrs. Archer will act as matron of honor, they will leave for San Francisco, where they will make their home after Aug. 15.

For going away the bride chose a navy faille suit with red snakeskin shoes and bag, a navy hat, and a corsage from her bridal bouquet.

The former Miss Throop attended the University, where she was majoring in fine arts. She is a member of Collegiate Sorosis.

Mr. Archer is a graduate of the University Literary School and received his law degree from the University in July. He is a member of Sigma Nu fraternity and was an associate editor of the University Law Review.
