Former Chelsea Man Succumbs in Hospital
Harry R. Church, 78, a former Chelsea resident, died early this morning at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after a long illness. He lived at 2552 Dayton Dr., Pittsfield township.
Until his retirement in 1951 he was employed for 25 years at the Federal Screw Co. in Chelsea. Previously he was a farmer for 20 years in Seneca township, Lenawee county, where he was born May 17, 1879. His parents were Frank and Elizabeth Sims Church.
He was married to Florence Camburn in November, 1902, in Morenci. After her death April 28, 1938, he was married to Mrs. Myrtle McManaway in July, 1939. She died May 17, 1952.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Hepburn of Chelsea; two sons, Milan of Ann Arbor and Kenneth of Tecumseh; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Ada Ehlinger of Springfield, O., and Mrs. Bessie Mitchell of Pierson, Mich,; and a brother, George Church of Rockford.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ackland-Fink Funeral Home in Morenci. The Rev. Raymon B. Bair, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Ypsilanti, will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci.
Friends may call at the Geer Funeral Home in Ypsilanti tonight and through tomorrow evening.
