Police Chief's Mother Passes

POLICE CHIEF’S MOTHER PASSES
Mrs. Anna Mary Mortensen, 83 years old, wife of John C. Mortenson, and mother of Chief of Police Sherman H. Mortenson, died this morning at her home 507 Hill St., after a long illness.
She was born May 18, 1862, in Wurttemberg, Germany, and came to Washtenaw county with her parents, the late Adam and Anna Mary Bross, when she was 12 years old. She had lived in Ann Arbor since her marriage to Mr. Mortenson.
She was a member of the Margaret Rebekah lodge and the Matilda L. Perrine auxiliary of the Spanish American War Veterans.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters; Mrs. Floyd McBath of Pontiac, Mrs. Robert Steeb and Mrs. Alfred Steeb, both of Ann Arbor; three sons, Harold, Sherman and Myron, all of Ann Arbor; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday at the Muehlig funeral home with Rev. Theodore Schmale officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
