John J. Iwanicki

MANCHESTER—John J. Iwanicki, 83, died at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Duffield Bell of 528 City Rd., yesterday after a lingering illness.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, June 24, 1866, he was a son of Ludwick and Florence Lemenski Iwanicki.

He was married to Antoinette Sosnoski on Jan. 18, 1893, in Poland. She survives.

They came to the United States in July of 1893, settling in Natrana, Pa. In December of 1899 they moved to Michigan, making their home in Detroit, and later moved to Bridgewater township in December of 1918.

In April, 1946, Mr. and Mrs. Iwanicki made their home with their granddaughter in Manchester.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Besides his wife and granddaughter, he leaves three daughters, Mrs. Henrietta Goldembiewski and Mrs. Mary LaDuke, both of Detroit, and Mrs. Francis Kavos of Florida; two sons, Anthony of Lorraine, O., and Thomas of Detroit; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 o’clock Friday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Rev. Walter E. Hennes officiating. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 tomorrow evening at the home.
