Almost synonymous with Santa Claus in the Christmas season are the coin kettles maintained in the downtown area by the Salvation Army. Here a young "motorist" pauses in his trip down S. Main St. to drop a coin in the bucket suspended below the tripod. Money collected by the Salvation Army goes to provide Christmas dinners for the needy.
