Longtime Resident Of Chelsea Dies
CHELSEA ̶ James W. Dann, 86, a Chelsea resident for many years, died early yesterday morning at Mackinaw City, where he and Mrs, Dann had been since October. They spent the winter with a son, Elmer Dann.
Mr. Dann, a native of Norfolk, England, had been in failing health for more than a year.
He was married to Mary Anna Lieback on Jan. 10, 1900, in St. Mary’s Church here. Living near Sylvan Center and then north of Chelsea for short periods, he had lived at 118 Wilkinson St. for the last 52 years. Until retiring several years ago, he had operated a grain business here.
Survivors, besides his wife and son, are another son, Lawrence Dann of Chelsea, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow at the Staffan Funeral Home here. The Rev. Lee Laige will conduct services at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, of which Mr. Dan was a member. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
