Schmidt, Mrs. Ellery (Ruth A.)

Age 99, died Friday, June 24, at the Saline Evangelical Home after a brief illness. She was born January 4, 1884, in Ann Arbor, the daughter of David and Marie (Garttner) Allmendinger. She was married to Mr. Schmidt, October 22, 1912; he died October 16, 1959. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Bethlehem United Church of Christ, and she was a former president of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Church. Mrs. Schmidt had been Supervisor of the Housekeeping Dept. at University Hospital for many years. She was active in the Paw Paw Methodist Church and the Auxiliary of the Church. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by: five daughters, Eleanor R. Dorstewitz, of Paw Paw; Margaret L. Carnegie, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; Amelita Ristine, of Ann Arbor; Mary M. Isaacson, of Whitmore Lake; and Patricia A. Haskell, of Pinckney; 19 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Ruth Copley, in 1972. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenyon Edwards officiating. Contributions may be made to the Saline Evangelical Home or the charity of your choice. Friends may call at the Muehlig Chapel 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
