Local Resident Dies At Age 70
Mrs. Mary Ellen McLeod, 70, wife of James McLeod, died today at her home, 1215 Saunders Crescent.
She was born May 23, 1889, at Avoca, Minn., the daughter of William and Mary Coughlin Smith. She married Mr. McLeod on April 30, 1913, at East St. Louis, Ill. The couple moved to Ann Arbor from Chicago in 1924.
Mrs. McLeod was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and the Altar Society of the Church and the League of Catholic Women.
Besides her husband, survivors include a son, James W. of Ann Arbor; two daughters, Mrs. E. J. Gillam of Arlington, Va., and Mrs. D. L. Knight of Essexville, Mich.; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Tex Smith and Miss Hannah Smith, both of Oakland, Calif., Mrs. John Johnson of Dunseith, N. D., Mrs. James Gannan of Cloquet, Minn., and Mrs. John Long of Chicago, and two brothers, John and William, both of Dunseith.
Funeral arrangements, being made by the Muehlig Chapel, are incomplete.
