The govornmenï. is now building fifty-threo steam war vessels ol various kind , ciirrying 1,783 gnus, or noarly as main as the wholo United States navy. By the iniddlo of next year, when the bbipi nnw on the stock are completed, the Bitish fleet wiil count 735 vessels, with 17,099 guns, and 132,786 horie power, or abuut eight times as many guns as our navy. Over two hundred thousand men wül be required to man the veasels. The French navy is, in guna, only a little over half as tstrong as the Eiiglish.
