I, JOHN S. BARRY, üovernor oí the State of Michigan, have thought proper to appoint, and by these presents do appoint Thursday, the twenlyrighlh dny oj November next, a dny of public Than?giving and Prayer, and do recommend to llie people of this State to Fet opnrt and observe the same accordingly; That they assemble on that dsy in their severa! places of public worship, and with sincere hearts gíve thanks to Almighíy God for ího ntimbcrless blessings enjoyed during the past year. Let ua imite in rendering hira thanks that he has preserved usas a nation; that he has saved us from foreign invasión and from nternal convultsions; that he has stayed the petilence and averted famine; that he hs continued to us social and domestic en joyment; and that he has kept inviolate our civil and religious institutions. Let U3 render thanka l'or olí his mercies so gracioosly bestowed, and with deep humiliíy, confeesing our bine, unite in fervent prayer and supplication for a continuance of his divine favor and proteciion. In testitnony whereof I have Caused the Great Seal of the State to bfe affixed to these presents, and BÍgned the same with my hand.
