Atchison, Kansas, Fob. 4. Messrs. Hyatt and Poineroy have prepared tbe following addresa to the people of the States, which represen ts truly the eondition of the people of Kansas without ijuestion: ''Uut one step boiween 50,000 people and death! An appeal to the press of tlie couutary, to the churches.. to Congress, to State Legislatures, to pbilanthrojiist, aud to the humane everywhero. Prompt aetion by the country, or a miraule from God eau alone save this people. The famiuo, like a vortox, draws to itsfrightful centre all oonditioDs. They who had food yesterday have none to day; they who have food to-day have none to-morrow. Seventy teams arrived yestcrdny; fifty wore loadcd aud sent away the day before. Ten thousand dollars worth of clothing have been distributed within tho past weck; and six thousand dollars cash within four days have been paid for freights; eighty one car loads of provisions have arrived within that time, and yet starvation is imminent. The people are living from mouth to mouth, - but barely saved alive. Our fands are now eshausted. The numbers of the destitute increase fearfully The niel t ing shows of February and the ovcrflowiug streaws, must shortly prevent distaut gafferere oomiug here to get supplies. Their sulvatiou depends upon our promptuoss ia esfcabliahing depots of provisions at acoessible points. Without funda the whole work must cease; the intermissioa of a week is death and desolatio.i. Unles3 the country gives us seed thuru eau bu no harvest, and the seed wheat should be in the grouud within furty days at least. A hundred thousand dollars is needed for food, ar.d as much moro for seed. To the heart of the couiitr}-, and in the name of Christ, we make tliis earnest appeal."
