Washington, Feb. 13- Governor Floyd, who is nnw ahsent in Virginia, has cuusud the following pubiioatioD to be mude. It is addreaaêd to the public: " The numerous assults whieh has boen made lipón mycharacter, ior several weeks past, in the newspapers, and which, trom their soirco and naturt-, cou'd not be replied to, have at length culminaied n a report from the oommittee of tho House oí Representativos, Bubniitte.d to that body on the 12th inst. This report is an ex jjars testimony, taken in secret in my absence, It is a labored atterapt, by inuendo, and by means of circumstances in tho absence of proof', to fix upoo me soine undefined complicity with a robbery of tha Government of wliic.h I had no küowledge nntil about the timo it was pnblicly disclosed. Now that these charges have been put in fonn, and have emanated irom an authorative source, I plodge myself to meet them by a full response as soon as the report óf this cornraittee, with the evidence taken by it, has been prin'.ed, and can be examined.
