Speech Of Mr. Lincoln At Columbus
The President clect arrived at Columbus, Oliio, yesterday aftemoon, and addressed the rnembers of the Legislature in a short speech, in whieh lic fcrcibly defended liis courso iu refusing to commit himself positively in regard to bis policy befcre he was cnabled, by a survey of the whole field, to fully decide upon his future action. When he stated that nobody is sufferiug anything in consequenee of the present agitation, hismind evidently reverted rather to the ñouris'iiug and prospcrous agricultural región in which he has long residod, and to the fertile districts through which he has reeeutly passed, than to the commercial and manufacturing centros, whcre business derangements are moLst keenly feit, where thousands of operativos are tbrown out of eiuployment, and wherc bankruptcy stares in the ftiee many of the most e.itcrprising
