Indepoudenco, April 8. The Santa Fe mail, with dates to the 25th, arrivod this raorning. Col. Loring lind arrived and taken charge of the military department of New Mexico, which gives satisfactioa to the people of the territory. The report of the taking of Fort Marcy by the citizens of Santa Fe is incorrect, no demonstration of the kiud liaving been even thought of. Peacc has again been made with the Nuvajoes. Great crowds of pcoplo are flocking to the San Juan mines, and numbers are lea"ing, going back to Pike's Peak regiĆ³n. The grass on the plains is growing fast and in a few days will be sufficieut for stock to subsist on. Einigration to the gold field has eommenced over the Southern route, quite a number of emigrants having been met by the mail party. A grent amount of rain has fallen in this section of couutry, aud busiuess is looking up.
