In another articlo we have referred to tlio misapprehension indulgcd in by the South as to the uuity of tbc North in the coutcst for existeiice which has boon forcod upon the govcniment. We tbiuk tliat the North eijnally misapprehends the position of the Soutli. The tíouth has been divided as to the poliey of secession, ! but the South is now united and will : wage the war as ono man, and the government need calcúlate on no serious dij vibion iu the Southern States, not at least Uittil a victory is gained and a power is showii to protect thosc Union nicu who have been forced to bc BÜént if not to approve. And onc othcr poiut. ïlie North nced not calcúlate on negro insurrections and rebcllious requiring the attention of Southern annies. The negroes of the South 1 are taught to obey their maaters in all . things, and we predict that insurrections ! will be few and lar botween, and that four out of evcry five of the slave population will stand by their masters, and beur arms iu their defenso. The free negroes are even now rallying for the fight, and a New Orleans dispatoh reporta that a meeting of free colored persons has been held, and their services tendered to protect the State against invasión, It will ba well for the North to place no relianco upn slave insurrections, and humanity to engage in inciting none.
