-A day or two since, a woll dressed man called at the City Treaauror'a office, in Lowell, and desired to look over the Assessor's room. Arriving there, he requestcd to seo the chairaran alone for a few momoiita, whioh requcst having been complied with, he made known to tbat officer that he was a widower in pursuit of a wife. He was not ovcrburdened with " tliis world's goods," and, if with a wife, he could get some funds, it would not come amiss. - He therefore wauted the chairman to make out a list of uumarricd ladies for iiim, that he might know among whom to " circuĂate," with a doublĂ© view to ma'rimoiiy and mouey Tho officia1, being very busy, was unablo to comply with the gcntlcman's request, and he is doubtless still in the market.
