Georgetown, Julv 21. Seth Simons, a niember of tlio Third Michigan Regiment, and formerly of Muskegon, met with an untimely end last night at Goorgotowu, at tbc hands of a negro. Ho was stabbod in the neck and so severcly that the knife reachod through, tho blood flowing froin tho wound iüllicted at buth sides. We understand tliat Simons was entirelj sober at the timo he received the fatal wound. On tho person of the negro, when ho was arrestcd, was found quite au amount of gold coin, somo of which uo doubt was abstracted froin tho pocket of the deeeased after the murdcr. Froin the fuiids found in bis possessiou onough has been taken to buy a good coffin and do fray the expenses of bis burial. The character of the negro in tho vieinity of Georgetown is notorious, as that of a villain and robber, to which may bo added the eulminating point of all crimes, that of inurder. Simons bad won the good will and friendslnp of all the members of bis company Fór liis social qualitics, as well aa that of the offieors, for his punctual discharge of all the Biiltitary duties assigned hiin. - He has died at the hands of au assassin, but will bo remembered by his comrades in aras on cvery battle field they may enter. A wife and two children are left to mourn his untimely death in a straugo city, when gone ín dofence of his country. Corporal K. C. Skeels writh his guard attended tho last sad rites of their lamen - :ed comrade.
