-The ing brief sentenco from a dispateh dated Clarksburg, Va., Sept, 13th, tolla that Col. Washington, of Mt. Vernon, tbo nlicritor of a noble name and a noble csta'c has met liis reward : " Two rebol officers spying around the camp at Eikwater this evening, were surprisod by our pickets and shot. Tho bod}' of one was brought into camp and provcd to be that of Col. John A. Washington, of Mount Vernon." Tho intclligence is cofirmed, and his body has been delivered to hia friends for interment. lio lived too long for his good fame, and has gonc unmourned by a nation which would haro honorod him alono for tho name.
