Willcox and a l.irgu uumber oi' bis fellow sufierera while the war laste, or uniil they shall be exchanged, has become a place of so much iraportauce iu the estimation of our citizens, that a brief ckscription of it will be of interest to thetn. Whether it bas been selectcd bceause of its extreme uuLealthiuess, or on account of its greater Bafety thau the Ilichrarmd tobáceo houses, we leave to others to judge It seeins to be certain, bowerer, that the hcalth or comfoi t of the prisoners was not consulted bj the rebel authorities in making the change. We find the following de scription of the (Jastle iu one of our ex eliauges without - Caatle Pinokney isasmall work situated on the Southern extremity of Shute's Folly Island, between the Ilog and Folly channels. Though not iu itself a irery considerable military work, yot frora its position - commanding, as it dous, llie wbole line of the Eaitern wharves- it becomes of tho utmost iiuportauce to be held by the State of South Carolina. It is, in faot, the immuliato outwork of the city of Charleston, useful at least as a nieans of preventing the landing of an eneiny, or as a prisou for t' ose poor fellows who may be taken by the rebels. In its plan it presente to the South a semicircular face, tlic Eastern and Western faces bemg formed bv the line ot' ir.mparts following the direetion of the tangent to the circular are at it.s extremíty, and for the distance of tvveury yards ; the Northern side is plain ; at bot'h the ISortli-easteru and Nottli-vr estera ai.glus are semi circular bastions, the outcr extremitits of the area bciug tangent re spectivéiy to the Eastern and Western si des of the fort. 1 fiere are two rows of guiiB - the lower bcing in casuments (bomb-proif), the embrasures for irhich are about tevtn fcet above luw water ïuark, aud the upper bcing en barbette. Tiie height of tiie rampart is twenty, and tha width thirty-two feet. Thu widtli of the outer wall aud of the par pot is six feef, the depth of the casements is twenty feit, the height ten ; the diameter East aud West, of the cas'lo is one huudred and seveuty feet. Around the (oot of the scarp wall is a ■breakwater, about twelve feet i;i wiilth. horizontally, which had its Western side extended in a tangent direetion to the ÖOtó w rorm tiie landin.
