" For the infonuation oi' those interested in the Michigan soldier, I scnd a brief , uotice of the departure froin Marshall of the First Regiment Michigao Kngiueers ( and Mechaincs, for the field of action in , Keutucky. Each compaoj had ita full eomplement, boside an Artillery ny partly tilled, making au Bggregftte of ] 1.0S7 men. Punctual to notice given, the reveille ' was sounded at 5 A. M , Tuesday ; ( fast was called at 5.J A. M. The regiment was formed ami took up its lino of , marcu through the principal BtreetB of the ei'y, eiieiting tha admiratioB of all ■who wituessed their soldier-like bearing and deportment, and arrived at the depot at five minutes before eight. After a little deteution, they ware quietly and corofortably seated, filhng tweuty-two coaches. At 10 o'clock the train, congisting of twenty -seveu cars, left the du pot amid the waving of handkevchiefs and ; the deafoaiug applauso of tho citizens of Marshall. At Battle Creek tlioro was a largo dclegation of citizens to cheer the regiment on their way to the scène of actiou. At Kalamazoo a like gre-eting was extended to thein, and also at Niles and Michigan City. Iudeed, during the wholu night, as tho train passed thu different stations in Indiana, tho cheoring hurrah was frequently hoard. At 10 1-2 o'clock A. M-, Wednesday, the train arrived at Joffursonviüe, on the opposite sida of the Oliio liiver from Louisville, wilhout the slightest accident to mar the pleasuro of the trip. After remaiuing at Jeffersonvüle sufficient time to have their haversaeks repleiiishcd with rationa, thcy crossed tho ferry and marched to the southern part of the city and pitched their teuts, awaitiog furtlier orders from General JJuoll, tho officer in eommand. At Louisvillu, they were received with rejoicings, aud with manjf trorda of praise, and we venture to assert that they will eotapare favorably with any regiment neamiped Lere at present. Amai:;; tke p'leasing ineidents connectd with tbeiir departure from Marshall. was the presentatiou of a bouquet to tho Cliaplain of the regiment, with the fol lowing reference to Isaiah 8, 12. doubtless intending it as a text for the ürst sermoii iu camp. P. S. - Sinco penning the above we learn that a train preceded that conveying tho soldiers on which were the equip menta of tho regiment - sixteeu army wagons, eighty-four borsos, a part of the artillery battery with iii'ty horses, and five horses beloügiog to officers. ïhese, a .eoutrasted with thoae from other States, bore a very favorable oomparíson. It is also duo to tho managers of the Michigan Central liiilroad to say that these heavy trains were run from Mareliall to JefFersonville ia fcwenty-four hours, with but one accident, not of a Tery serious eharaoter, and that supposed to bc from individual carclessncss1. s. s. c.
