The Knoxville (Tenn ) Register, of the lat instant, expresses the opinión that Brownlow's release was a great bluuder, and gives the following ï-easons : " In urief, Brownlow haa preached at cvery chureh and schoolhouse, and made stump speeches at every cross-road, and kuows every man, woman and child, and their 'athers and grandfathers before them, in East Tennessee. As a Methodist circuit jreaeher, a politica] stump speaker, a ;emperauce orator, and the editor of a newspaper, he has been equally suecessful n our división of the State. Let him jut once rcach the confines of Keutucky, with his knowledge of the gecgraphy and sopulation of East Tennessee, aud our seetion will soon feel the effect of his jard blows. F rom among his old partisan and religious sectarian parasites he will find men who will obey him with ;he fanatical alacrity of those who folowed Peter the Hennit in the first cruade. We repcat again, let us not underrate Brownlow."
