A good ODfi is told of a wag of a fellow ■who applied to Gol. for a Lieuteuant's oommission to rooruit for liis reriment. Col gave him a rccorn mendation to the Adjutant General, when oíf goes our fricad to Columbus, and makcs hia ipplication. The Adjutant refused him at first but the candidate for military honors insisted, sayiug that " he guessed he had bettcr let him havc it ;" and scemed so determinad and earnest in hia appealg, that the Adjutant fiually gratitud him a corninission. The " newfangled Lieulenant" loft greatly elatod at bis suceess ; carne down to Ciueinii.-iti, and purchased him a full uit of " blue and brass," and made a visit to Col. 'g headqnarters, where his "most intímate friends " failed to recognizo him. Tlio Lieutenant hired a horse and buggv and scoured the country for recruits. Át tho eud of tho first tou days he made his report to the Adjutant General in the following stylc : To the Adjutant General of the State of Ohio: Sik : - Haviug the ploasure of raakiog my first report, I have to say - " Nary recruit," as yet.
