Wa should hVve mentioned lost week that our Enstem friends have pTopotnd a Libert Convention to be litld at Washington, in the District of Columbia, on the first of March, piovidedtwo hu ndied Liberty men wil! previoiisly "pledge theniselvoö to atlend, and wil! fonvard their names to J. C. Jacksoii, Albany. or Lewis Tappin, New York. The proposition rueets witli a favoroble response from most of the Liberty papera. Birt no cali will be issued by the National Comvittee, unless the 200 naraes shall beTeceived. The Albany Patriot thus states "TUE OBJECT OF THE CONVENTION. 1. It will be to inqtnre minutely into the extent of alavery in the district of Columbia, HvA the Territory of Florida. 2. To get at f acts relat ive to the sale and transfer of slaves, throngh the facilities furnished by the inter slave trade under the proleclion of the flag of the United States, and to take measures for the abolition of said trade. S. To arrive, ns far as may bc practicable, at tbc amount of support which the government indirectly furnishes to slavery by and through ils diplomatic interceurse. The convenlion will meet - if it meet - for these and kindred purposes. lis object will be7iationai,&ni iï has sure guara nlee in the character of those who will ffo, that its discu.csions and inveetignlions will be pursued inthat alm, conciliatory, vet hrm, d'gnified and Irtilhful manner, which will relieve mnny persons, not excepting those wlio mny ho!d the relationj of sluvebolders - of the false ideas which fhey now entertain of th$ purposes aud plons of abolitio'nists. The colonizitioa and temper - anee socielies have had it, and there is no reason why that body 8hould refuse to grnnt it to us. Should such applicaiion be ref'iscd, however, the convention wifl meet on the nattonal grounds near the capilul."
