News hav'mg rcached tho Uuiversity that Captain Albert Nye, of the Ninth Michigan Infantry, had died iu the hospital at Murfrocsboro, Temí , and that his body reached homo cu the vcry day on which the dogree of 13. A. was confcrrod upon him by the Univcrsity, a meeting of Lis former classmates was iiumediatcly ealled, aud the followiug resclutions adopted : Wherens, It has plrascd an all-wiso Providence to remove by death, consequent upon exposure nud fatigue in the service of his country, Captain Aibert Nye, of the Ninth Regiment of Michigan Infantry; therefure, Resolved, That, in tliis tho Grst risitatiou of death to our class, we ire ealled on to mourn tor one who gave briglit promisc for the future; and the University to lanK-nt the sacrifico of another of her noblesf sons. Resolved, That althouph his fondest wish - to die upon tho field of battle - was denied hiiu, bis patriotie selfdevo tion, which led him to turn from his bright future of collogo and' professional life, to seek the post of danger, ar.d which, vrhén tiiore, yielded not to weakness and disease, has left to us and to his country, as a legacy and example, the ineuiory of his noble decds. Resolced, That while we submit without a murmur to this severo bcreavement, we have roasou to believe that our loss has boen his ctemal gain. Resolved, That we tender our warmest Bympat.hies to the relativos and frionds of our depnrted brother, and that, in token of his worth, we will wear the usual badgo of mourning for thirty days. Resolved, That a copy of these rcsolutions be published in the papers of Ann Arbor and Detroit, and be transmittcd to the frienda of the deeeased. Signed by the committee.
