-A correspondent of the New York World has the following : " I could go on and spoak columns and volumes of brave deeds and just praise- which would be but simple justico - of such men as Roberts, of the second Mainej Woodbury of the Fourth, and Welch, of the Sixteenth Michigan, all of whom I saw do only what a brave soldier should do, yet wlint cutitles them to a country's highest gratitude. " I know the spirit of these men. Spared for anpther conflict, their bratveiy and skill now proven, thricc baptised in fire, and thcy will do doublé service hereafter. Let rebellion, and treason, and corruption quail before the leadership of such men. The firo has proven their worth. We know now where to look for leaders. Let the President and his war minister, in filling up the promotions, uotovcrlook tlie ten thonsand instoncee of skillful leadership and dauntlcss bravery on the part of subordinates - the men ivho fujht.
