Range 7 E., bordering upon Tawas ' liay. The bed ranges froui twelve to eighteen feet above tho surfaco of the bay, the soil overlaying, upon nn average, seven feet in depth, with no iutervening rock. It is pure, white ilaater, and is estimated can ba inined for not to esceed fit'ty cents por ton. The piaster crops about sixty rods from the bay, and has been bored iuto fourtoen and a half feet at one point and twonty-three feet at nnother, without going through. The Hud is covered with beeoli and mnple, wii.ii soine pine and hetnlock. There is an old Indian sugarbush on the tract. Considering the fact that Tanas Bay affords the ünest harbor on Lake Huron, and the facilities for shipmeat incident to ita being in close proximity to the routo which all western bound vessels take, this is eertainly a discovery of grent iniportance ■ and valuó.-
