Procuro glass jars with any simple and effective stopper, select good solid peaches, pare and take out the stones, take one pound of tba parings, oue pint of water, half a pound of white BUgar, boil wcll together for fjrty minutes in ft brass kettle, then struin through a eloth, let the sirup oool, fill the jars with the pared peaches, pour i ti the sirup until the jars are full. Take a convenient vessel, put a cloth in tho bottoni, set in the jars, tlien fill the vessel or tho space around the jars with cold water, lo come withiu three inohes of the top of the jars, set on the stovo, britig gradually to a buil, boil well for thirty minutes, take the jara out -of the vessel, put on the stoppers, screw tight while hot, Peaches put up in this w;iy will stav solid, and keep the natural color
