Eattle-FieW near Fayotleville, Aikansas, licc, 8. Gen. Hurron'a forces, et route fco rein, foree Gen. Blunt, met the enemy yeater py on Crawford Prairie, ten miles south, of Fayettovillo, Arknnsas, and won decisive victory over them. The euemy wero tweuty-four thoussnd strong, divided into four divisious, under Generáis Parsons, Marmaduke, Frostt and Rains, all under Gunenil Hindmat and embraeod the flower of the trans Mi.ssissippi army, well supported by eigb.teen pieoes of artillery. The enemy flan la-d Blunt's position a-t Cane II 11, and ma Je a suddeo attack on Herrón, to prevent hiin from umting with Blunt. Ilerron's foroe consisted of tbe Nine ty-fourth and Thirty-3eventh Illinois, Ninoteontli aud Twentieth, Iow.i, Twenty-sixt.h Indiana, Twentieth Wisconsia, ;md a battaliou of two of cavalry, in alL from 6,500 to 7,000 men, and twentyfour picces of artillery. The battle raged from 10 A M. til d:uk,aud was desperatuly foughtthrough out. Our artiüery drove the enemy frora two strong poaitions, and kopt their over-whelming numbers at bay. The Twentieth VVis.onsin oaptured x rebel battery of four heavy gans, but wcre forcod to abandon them under & murderous fire. The Nineteenth Iowa took the sanie battery and fought most desperatcly, but wure also obliged t yield it. Alnoost every regiment distinguished itself. ' About four o'clack Gen. Blunt arriredi from Cave Hill with fivo thousand mea and a strong foree of artillery, and attacked the enemy in the rear. The rebels made desperate efforts to capture hi& batteries, but were repulsed with terrible slaoghter. W held the wholo field at dark, and before nine o'clock that nvght the entire rebel furce was in full rctreat over the Boston Mountain. Our loss iu killed and wounded waa C00; that of the rebels fifteen hundred, by their own admission. Several of the enemy's field officera were killed, among them Col. Steink commanuinga brigade, formerly a Brig. adier in the Missouri State Guards. Only a few prisoners were taken. We eaptured four caissons filled with ammunltion. Lieuteaant Colonel HoFarland,. of. the Ninth Iowa, was tho only field: offieer killed on ou.r siie. Major Hubbard, of the First Missouri" Cavalry w.as taken prisoner.
