- A special dispatcli froin Washington reporte that the negroes don't like the idea of " fiijhting for tlieir ïiberty," and intelligent contrabatida declare that the author of the bill to riiiso one hundred and fifty thousand black soldiers, at ten dollars a month, s an enemy to the colorod race. It is believed by the negroes that it would be impossiblo to raise tho uumber of African warriors named in the bill introduced by Mr. Stevens. By voluntary not moro than enouli for color sergeants would be obtaiued, and nothing like that number could be raised by conscription.
