The Benton was the ouly boat struck and had one man killed and two wounded The Porest Queon's drum-head waa iujuredby contact witn one of tho gunboats but can easily be repaired. Krom the time of sturüug until the first shot was hoard from the rebel battiros, was'an hour and a quarter, by which time nearly all had got safely past A brilliant light was then soen ou shore which üluniinated the river for a couple of miles, but soon died out. Five hiindred shots were fired during the passage, on both sides, and the guuboats opeued ou the city, with what result isunknown. lachguuboat aud transport had a eoal barga in tow, but the transporta ooutained uo soldiers.
