He states that tlie rebols ou the Kappahanock admit they have lost Vieksburg. ïhero seems to be a growing irnpression here that Gen. Lee is meditating an attack upon Hooker or an advanoe iu the dirootion of Washington. The rebels admit their po3tion is a dangerous one, and that they must dare uncommon dangers. in the hope of destroying our army iu Virgiuia and of capturing Washington. It is reported that Beaurogard has ïen naneston witn most of ins torces for West or Virginia, most probably for the fbi-mer, tlwugh it is possible tbat he bas been ordered to join Lee oq the llappahannock. A special to the New York Evcning Post, dated Washington, 27th, saya : "The Council of War held yesterday at the White House was the result of the last visit of Senators Wade aud Chaudler to the Army of tho Potomac, and had referanee to the offensive movements whieh the rebels in Virginia have been for some time threatning.
