A correspondent of the State News suggests the importancia to our citizens, oí' a ïuilrond from Peutonville to Adrián ■vat Ann Arbor, thus connecting southern Michigan by the shortest and most direct route with the Saginaw Valley bringing its lumber and salt to our doors and enabling us to seud up our produce in cxehauge. Tho writer says that Fentonvillo is on an air lino between Flint and Ann Arbor, aud tba proposed road from Fontonvillo to a connection with tho Southern brauch at Temimích will bo about 56 milos long. lid talrca itforgranted that a road wül bo built from Fentonvillc south, aud that if our citizens do not move in the matter, and that soon, it will go by Jackson, Dexter, or some more enterprising town than our own. In confirmation of thia we may say that the citizens of Howcll are alrcady moving with considerable spirit for a road from Fentonville via Howell to Jackson, and that the free right of way is geuerally pledged through Livingston Countj. - Tho dist anee from Fentonvillo to Jackson is a little - some four or five miles - ■ loss than from Fentouville to Tccumseh but Jackson is over thirty miles from Tecumsoh, thus leaving a large margin in favor of a southern connestion by the way of Ann Arbor. Capital is now seeking investment in railroads, various routes are being talked up in our State, and if Ann Arbor is even to have a North and South road now is the time to strike. Let a road be built from Featoaville to Jackson and we noed ever look for direct railroad communication with the Saginaw Valley or with the Southern Eailroad. Will our capatalists both think and start?
